Urban Hiking Wakes Up the 5 Senses
Research shows that walking activates your entire body. But throw in a bit of urban hiking, and your senses hyper activate, becoming aware of your surroundings intensely.
On an urban hike, you might smell fresh coffee roasting at the nearby roaster, you might hear a cellist practicing in the local park, you might see urban art missed while driving, you could talk to someone who changes your life, or perhaps you might feel excited for the new ideas that pop into your brain while walking.
All of those things have happened to me on an urban hike. What about you?
Share with me how your senses got inspired on your urban hike. What changed you?
Hi, Chris! This is an amazing idea. Most of us thinking about hiking like something you do in a wild, but the idea of urban hiking is very refreshing. I imagine how it makes you discover things you would just walk by any other day. I was wondering, is this type of hiking popular among more “conservative” hikers?
Thanks Nigel.
I’m glad you love it. I’m not sure what you mean by “conservative” hikers…these walks are for everyone! All the routes I have picked allow hikers to enjoy the neighborhoods and trails around them. Most are flat; all are safe. Are you thinking about one in particular?
