High Line Canal Segment 11
If you’re not interested in hiking the entire High Line, buy The Best Urban Hikes: Denver, which has several hikes, out n backs, and loops that incorporate pieces of the High Line. See details about this segment, below.
After leaving Expo Park, you’ll be in the heart of Aurora. First will be the Aurora Hills Golf Course and Aurora’s green house, then you’ll walk behind the Aurora Government Center. If you have time, take the bridge off the Trail into the Center where you can find the Aurora Central Library (and bathrooms!) and some amazing art scattered outside. After going under Chambers, you’ll enter DeLaney Farms. Be sure to stop at the homestead to read its history before ambling on over the Toll Gate creeks (where tolls used to be collected to cross.) Stop at the pagoda for a break, pass the Community College of Aurora, and end up at your final stop for the day.
Please park along Lansing Street in this residential neighborhood and walk one block west to trail. The address is a home to use as a locator for where to park, but do not disturb the residents. You can also park at the Expo Park Rec Center and walk 1/2 mile to the trail.
